About the Artist:

Born into a family of creative people, Stacey has always had a love for all things handmade.  From a young age she was inspired by her mother and grandmother's love of craft and making things.  In her teenage years Stacey discovered her love of beads, and her fascination with jewelry has been never ending since.   Working as an apprentice at a local jewelry store, throughout high school, Stacey gathered skills and started making designs of her own.  Currently she is pursuing a dual degree in Fine Metals and Art Education at Kutztown University.  When not at school Stacey lives in Lancaster Pennsylvania with her family.

Artist Statement:

As a jeweler I like to display the unexpected through my work.  I create pieces that are unique and slightly quirky.  I try to convey my personality in my work as much as possible. I am interested in the relationship between the wearer and the jewelry, and the impact that can be created.  I hope that through wearing one of my pieces one will have an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Currently I am interested in two different design areas.  I am creating pieces with found objects, focusing on the usage of Christmas light bulbs.  I enjoy that something so familiar can become innovative and beautiful when placed in a special setting.  I also enjoy how the light bulbs become so precious and the jingle they make when they hang from your ears.   I am also working with polymer clay to create beads.  I have always loved beads, but was frustrated that I could not create something that was completely handmade when using beads.  Through using the ancient technique of Mille Fiori (Italian meaning thousand flowers) I can create completely hand crafted beads to incorporate into my work.  Also through using polymer clay I can include my love of color into my pieces.
